Boxes

My house is full of boxes nowadays. 
I'm already packing as much as I can for the renovation.

Same House, New Colours

 
                                   
On Thursday - when I hurried home from work - my house was white with blue. On Friday - when I hurried home from work - my house was brown with orange.
So this will be the look of my house in the next ten years. It is not my taste. 
I will try to get used to it.

Arrival Sinterklaas in Groningen

He made it! Sinterklaas, the old saint who gives children presents on December 5th, is back from Spain, were he and his staff reside throughout the year.
From the moment he is in town you can place your shoe - filled with carrots for his white horse - in front of your fireplace. Then, at night, Sinterklaas will fill up your shoe with candy and stuff.

Hospital Visit

I've been visiting friend A who is in the hospital since Tuesday.
We see eachother every day at lunchtime and talk a little.
He may be in the hospital for 2 or 3 weeks for a treatment.
I see him more often than usual, so that's a plus.
Get well soon! :-)

News about the Renovation

There's a lot going on with the Renovation of my house.
Big cranes in front and scaffolding in the back of the house.
Today they put new windows in the bedroom with (ugly) handles.
And besides that I have a new adress (see photo below) for when the renovation is really starting!
And yesterday I already bought a new carpet for the bedrooms.

One, Two, Three Birthdays

I was away for the weekend. There were three birthday parties in my family.
My sister-in-law C, my niece J and my little niece L. Niece L is blowing out three little candles on her birthday cake on the photo above.
But I also visited my parents. My father seemed to be a little bit better.

Me as a Model

Harry has sent me the photo's that he made of me when I was on shoot with Marie-Louise. Here they are. I'm not really used to being a model and it was quite difficult for me.

Breakfast with Barack Obama

          


I'm happy that Barack Obama won last night!
I had my breakfast in front of the teevee while he promised me that 'the best is yet to come' and that we would be together for 'four more years'.
Which is fine by me.

America's Next President

          


In the next ten hours the new president of America will be chosen. 
My vote goes to Barack Obama.
When I wake up tomorrow morning I will see if he actually won the race.

Toothache and a new Cabinet

            


Holland has a new cabinet. Today all the new ministers were sworn in by Queen Beatrix. The colours on the offical press photo were red, white and blue, just like the Dutch flag.

And more: I'm in pain because of a toothache. I've been to the dentist today and had a treatment. Nou I have a lot of afterpain.

Tinariwen

           


Tonight I was in the Oosterpoort for a concert of Tinariwen.
Tinariwen are a Tuareg-Berber band originally from the deserts in the north of Mali. They exist since 1979 but I discovered them in 2010.
Their instruments are percussion and electric guitars. The sound is West-African but it's easy on the ears of West-Europeans.

The News Today

I heard today that an old schoolfriend died last week at the age of 58.
Also my dad is not feeling so well these days.
And some strange problems at work about work and holiday hours. I will not bore you with that.

And then a funny story:
When I walked home today I saw a cute tall handsome guy coming my way. I thought 'WOW!' I told myself to look cool and interesting, and not to blush.
I saw this cute guy put off his sunglasses to look at me, and I thought WOW he's looking at me!!!!! 
So we came closer and closer ........ and then I saw it was my friend A!!!!
He told me that he also had thought by himself: Hey, there's a goodlooking woman! 
Of course I took him home to have tea together.

Photoclub night

            


Tonight at the photoclub a special presentation from photographer Heinz Aebi. He showed us how to make a documentary with photo's. He talked about Robert Capa, Ed van der Elsken and more.... It was an interesting evening.


         

Superstorm Sandy

          

          


Sandy, a huge storm hit New York today. It seems that 8 million people are without electricity and 26 people were killed. Damage repair will cost about 10 trillion dollar a day.
Even Donald Trump's hairdo was severely messed up.

Grapefruit with 'Deep Water' from 1969 sung by scottish singer Alexander Young.
I found out on Wikipedia that one of his brothers is Angus Young known from the Australian band AC/DC. Alexander Young died in 1997.

About Colin Benders, the man behind the Kyteman Orchestra.
Very interesting and very enlightening because I always wondered who this artist is, how he lives, how he thinks. And why his music feels so okay....

Weather Changing

The weather changed this week from summer (Monday, 20 degrees) to winter (last night,  minus 2 degrees), from sunshine to frost.
I took a walk through the park today to watch the trees and the autumn coulours. I also went to see my new house where I will be living during the renovation.

The Voice Battle

Tonight's episode of The Voice Battle is very exciting! My two favourite singers are on stage. Ivar Oosterhuis battled against Inge McGee and won. Marco Oostra sang against Johannes Rypma and he ......................

Prettiest Autumn

         


This autumn is probably the prettiest ever!
I didn't make photo's of it myself yet but I hope I am still on time tomorrow afternoon.

At Work

            


On Tuesday I started to work at the office of the kidney transplant in our hospital.
The new work was not difficult and I like my new colleagues.
I typed some letters and did some archive work.

ANTM cycle sixteen!

              


To my surprise the 16th cycle of America's Next Top Model started last night on Dutch TV! I'm very happy! I love the program!

Harry's Results

Shoot with Harry

Photographer Harry visited me today to take pictures of me preparing tomorrow's modelshoot. He also will be going with me and Marie-L tomorrow when we will be shooting for the February issue of the 'Models and Friends' site. So I was model for a day! I have no results to show you yet!

Hi!

Hi! I forgot to write something yesterday. I went back to work yesterday after a short but very nice holiday. In the afternoon I had a training about aggression in the workplace and how to deal with it. We had to learn to confront, to avoid, to compromise, to solve problems, to give feedback etcetera....
And today is the last day of the workweek! A short day, so I could be outside in the sun this afternoon.
The temperature is very high for this autumn season (maybe twenty degrees?).

Autumn Garden

This is how my garden looks at the moment. The Japanese Maple is turning red now. And the garden tiles turn green of the rain that fell.

My Uncle Thomas

Today was the funeral of my uncle Thomas.
He died on Wednesday October 10th , aged 93, after a difficult period of five years when he was not really his old self. He was married for 68 years to my aunt G.
I met a lot of my cousins, uncles and aunts and my own mom and dad.
After all it was a good day.

M's Party

On Wednesday we had a party. My colleague M had been working for 25 years for the hospital. We were at a restaurant and had a lot of fun!

Walking on Water

             


I'm walking on water these days.
Because of heel pain I have bought two inlay soles to put in my shoes. They're filled with water to soften the heel pain.
It works!

I bought the new book of Scott Schuman (the Sartorialist), style photographer, today. It is again full of style inspiration. I love it! Can't wait for the third book!
